Forever with Your Soul Chapter 1

"Come on Axel," I yelled excitedly as I ran up the staircase hardly able to contain my happiness.  "We are going to be late for our first day of school!"

Well, the fact is, is that we are already two hours late, mainly because I forgot to set my alarm clock beforehand to wake me up at the correct time.  And that was a problem for this morning; my weapon had to throw me out of bed in order to get me up.

I whip my head around, though brunette hair I see Axel the fiery red head who is still working his way up the stairs and then at the fantastic Shibusen School for people like me and my friend.  Shibusen Academy is for Weapons and Meisters which was set up by Death God himself.  We are transfer students from Japan's Academy, I am being requested in America, by the Death God personally.  That means that adventure waits in this new school.

"I'll be saying that to you, Kei, after a few days of ascending these stairs," sighed an exhausted Axel, walking up the stairs very slowly and I should know after I made him pry me from my bed.  He still hasn't forgiven me.  He was tall, with warm black eyes.  He had a cinnamon toned jacket with a dark pastel red tank top underneath with a matching chocker to conceal his scars.  (He never did tell me how he got them in the first place so I stopped asking after a month.)

"Yeah yeah, I want to see the school!" I happily called as I ran the descending staircase to Axel and grabbed his hand to his butt in gear, "and an honor roll student is supposed to show us around today," I cheered pulling him up the stairs.

Axel was ignoring my pulling and said, "I doubt the person will be there, we are two hours late for Death's sake."

"Come on, we're almost there," I said.

A boy with spiky slivery white hair, Soul, mumbled, "Are they here yet?  Man, they were supposed to be here like long ago.  Maybe they ditched us."  He kicked a stone of towards the school and gazed behind him at a girl in ash blond pigtails.

The girl was not pleased as she looked back at him.  "I'm sure that they are just running late.  And besides I am the honor roll student, I can't just give up on them!" exclaimed the ecstatic Maka that she got to be chosen over the other honor roll student Ox.  After all she won an intense battle of book smarts.

Soul wandered towards Maka who was by the stairs that led up to the school.  She was pacing and Soul dropped his gaze down the passage.  He said with as he put on front of a grin touching his sharp shark like teeth, "Speak of the devil, I think they're here."

I ran up to the top leaving Axel behind where a boy with silver hair was observing us.  'Is that the honor student?' I thought as my purple eyes were fixed on him and I tripped on the one of the steps planting my face in the hard conceit.  The boy laughs hysterically, I quickly got up from the ground and gave off a laugh too, that was pretty amusing and to cover up any embarrassment left over.

Axel rushed to me, "Look at what you did, you should watch were you're going," he added as he helped me up.

I smiled at him and said, "I should fall more often, it makes you move faster," and laughed again seeing as I was fine.

Axel had a look over to make sure that nothing was bruised on me.  The girl that dashed to see what happened.   The girl put on end to the snickering, a 'Maka Chop' was all it took.

"I'm sorry about my friend," Axel put forth and bows.  "She never looks before she leaps."

"No worries, I should be saying the same thing about my rude friend," she bows then silently glares at the boy who is shielding his head from another attack.  "My names Maka Albarn, I am the honor student that will be showing you around today and my partner," replied the pigtailed girl.

Maka then looked at the boy as if passing the baton to continue he doesn't look like he wants to take it but he sighed and said, "My name's Soul Eater if you want to know."

"Hello!  Well can't wait to see the school!" I expressed.

I shook her hand and I raced up to the doors of this enormous school with her in my hand as if I had known her my whole life and we were just catching up on old times.  I had complete forgotten about the accident that happened moments ago.  Axel and Soul were beginning up the rear as we had to the doors.  Maka not knowing what to call us said, "Sorry, could you please tell us your names?"

"Oh forgot, sorry for my manners," as I stopped and turned around to face her, "My name is Kei Sakuma."  I announced and pointed towards myself, "And that's Axel Katsunori," I added and used my head to point towards him as he is waving towards Maka and Soul.  "I hope that we can be good friends!  Now come on!"


"So here are the classrooms each filled with one to three star students, you will be joining me inside of this classroom with Doctor Stein," said Maka who paused her feet to open the door.

We enter the room and we see Dr. Stein teaching like he usually is by dissecting, but he stops abruptly when we walked in.  He looked strange with a bolt though his head and very stern, also he is on rolling computer chair which I found odd and intriguing.

"Maka, you are late.  Stand outside along with you, Soul," they said, yes.  Next he had his eyes on us, we are petrified, or at least I am.  "So you are the ones who transferred from Japan," I attempt to say yes sir but he would not pause.  "How would you feel, if I did experiments on you?"  Stein uttered.  My partner looked at me horrified but I just looked back with a smile.  He then sighed, "But Death would like to see you first.  Get to it," he then shoved all of us out of the classroom and closed the door.

"Well that was a welcome wagon," said a horrifyingly stiff Axel.

"I hope you have fun while you're here," said Maka attempting to make it cheerful.

"And keep it cool," said Soul as he brought a thumb up.

As I was trying to remember where the room was I giggled because my mind was blanking on where it was, "I know that you showed us, but I forgot, umm do you know the way to Death's room?" I questioned Maka.

Axel then came back in chuckle, "You really don't remember."

After a discussion about how to get to the room again by Maka and Axel, I waved bye to Maka along with Soul and we went to the Death Room.

"Hello, Death?" we said, I could see him sitting down with a cup of tea in his hands at the end of the tori gates.  He took notice of us and said Hello in a childish demeanor.  He then waved to sit down with him.

We moved up to him and sat down at his table shaped like a flat skull.  I looked all around to see clouds, a mirror, some gravestones, and more pretty clouds!  It is like I'm outside when I am inside.

Looking at the clouds I whispered, 'why there are puffy clouds in here,' to my partner.  He just shrugged.  I then snap back into focus as I remembered what I am here for.

"How do you like the school, I made it symmetrical," he took a sip of his tea and said in more serious tone, "Do you know why you have been called here from Japan?"

"No, but we thought we'd learn on the job," states Axel trying to act professional.

"Well, you both have something special that makes you unique," he affirmed as he took another sip of his tea.

We waited patiently for him to tell us why we are so special that he needed to request us from half way across the world.  You can't keep my focus for long; I get distracted and bored which has happened on too many other occasions.  So I looked at the shapes in the clouds again thinking that this is going nowhere.

My partner got my attention again by nudging me.  "Listen," he breathed then he went back to his normal voice and replied, "Please tell us, Death?"

"Well, Kei, you have something unusual for when you face any evil person before they have the power to become a Kishin.  A technique that you have, that very few people can obtain, especially in the time that you have done it," Death answered.  "Most people are 60 years old, too old to fight, if they spend their lives trying to obtain it.  But to you it came naturally."

A huge grin appeared on my face.  I leaned in closer so that I could hear everything in clarity hanging on to every word because I got something that no one else at my age has!

"I won't tell what it is now," he declared.

The smile dispersed, "but, but I need to hear it," I retorted.

Death then goes back to his childish voice, "It is too important, besides there might be someone on the else listening."

"What!?  You need to tell me, how can I be important and not even know," I said as I took ahold of his robes a shook him back and forth.

My weapon jumped up and grabbed me around my waist trying to break me away.

"Shinigami Chop!" Death performed.

I dropped his cloak after the attack connected with my crown.  I fell backwards on top of Axel, my head pounding.

Axel struggled to get me and himself to stand, "And what special talent do I have?"

"Ahh you, Axel, have a great perception of when Kei is hurt," he said still with his child like voice, then took another sip of his tea.

Axel could in fact feel a slight headache from the pain that I was feeling.  It was like a portion of me was imprinted forever on his soul.

He put what Death recently said out of his mind, "That happens every day, there has to be more than that," Axel replied leaning across the table, "Tell me that I am excellent weapon or something."

Death just shook his head and Axel sat back down disappointed.  "So you're saying I have nothing," a not impressed at all Axel verbalized.

"Not exactly," Death disclosed.  He put a hand on Axel's shoulder, "You have something very special that if you were not Kei's partner she would become one of the people we are searching for.  You gave her a goal to work towards; aren't you her associate?  That's proof enough for me."

"Yea we better get going, Kei?" Axel said as he rose from sitting, he turned his head to look at me, "Kei?"

My head still throbbing from Death's attack, he gave a really powerful chop to me.  I must get stronger to match him in power which gave me a new idol to look up to.  I stood up with Axel and bowed, "We hope to serve you well," we both said in unison.

We began to head for the door when someone walked past us.  It was an older man, with red hair and a cross tie.  I couldn't stop to hi to him, and neither could Axel.   My eyes were on him, 'Was he here the whole time?' I wondered as we kept walking our separate ways.  The last look of him was when we closed the door parting my gaze.


Interested the red haired man asked, "Death, what is the talent of the girl that you brought all the way to America?  I feel something strange about her."

"Ah Spirit, how nice of you to join me," Death expressed took another sip of his tea, then put his cup down on the table, "It is very simple, she is incapable of becoming," he took a breath, "insane."  Then in a quieter voice divulged, "But if she were to know that, she might very well be.  For her mentality is unstable, as long as she has Axel she will not become a kishin."
